Wayne L. Wold


Wayne L. Wold is active as a teacher, church musician, composer, author, performer, and clinician. He serves as Associate Professor of Music and College Organist at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. Over 200 of his compositions are published by fourteen different companies in the U.S. and Australia and include twenty volumes of works for organ and instruments with organ, 30 choir anthems, a children's musical, a recorder suite, and several hymn tunes. He is the author of numerous hymn and anthem texts, articles in professional journals, a book of devotions for church choirs, and a book about pastoral care for church choirs. Performing on organ and harpsichord as a soloist and ensemble player, he has appeared with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, with the Hood Chamber Singers at Lincoln Center, and in numerous churches across the U.S. and in Europe. He also leads several hymn festivals each year. He has served as a clinician for numerous organizations including Choristers Guild, the American Guild of Organists, The Hymn Society, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and numerous publishing companies. He served as president of Region One of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and was a member of the editorial board for the hymnal "Evangelical Lutheran Worship." Born in Minnesota, he holds the Bachelor of Music degree from Concordia College in Moorhead MN, the Master of Sacred Music degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH, and the doctor of musical arts degree from Shenandoah University.
