Mark Siebert

 

Mark Siebert (1926-2005) earned the AB, MA and Ph.D at Columbia where his teachers were: in musicology Paul Henry Lang and Erich Hertzmann; in composition Douglas Moore; in organ Rodney Saylor and Carl Weinrich. After teaching at Columbia and conducting the University Chorus he held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Oberlin College Conservatory; the New Division of Nasson College; Sangamon State University (now University of Illinois at Springfield). He is Professor of Music Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Springfield. After holding positions in a number of churches he served as organist and choir director at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Episcopalian), Springfield, where he was Organist Emeritus and Composer in Residence.
