Ruth Lomon


Ruth Lomon's compositions include orchestral, chamber, vocal and solo as well as multi media works. She has had commissions from the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston, Dinosaur Annex, Alea III, grants from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts, New England Foundation for the Arts, The New Mexico Arts Division, National Endowment for the Arts and residences at The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, Yaddo and Norlin/MacDowell fellowships. Requiem, for full chorus and winds, was premiered by Coro Allegro, David Hodgkins, conductor. Lomon was a fellow at the Bunting Institute/Harvard 1995-96 where she composed Songs of Remembrance, a song cycle on poems of the Holocaust which won the Miriam Gideon Composition Award. Her music is published by Arsis Press, Zimbel Press and The League ISCM, Boston, Piano Book Project. Her orchestral works are recorded by the Warsaw National Philharmonic (Terra Incognita), the Prague Radio Symphony (Bassoon Concerto), and Composers Recordings Inc. (Songs of Remembrance). Since 1998 she has been Composer/Resident Scholar in the Women's Research Center, Brandeis University.
