Alan Fletcher is the President and CEO of the Aspen Music Festival and School. A prolific composer, he studied at Princeton University and the Juilliard School, where he earned a doctorate under the direction of Roger Sessions. He was a composition faculty member at New England Conservatory for fifteen years, where he also served as provost and senior vice president. He came to Aspen after five years as professor and head of the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University. He was Chair of the Salzburg Seminar Music for a New Millenium: The Classical Genre in Contemporary Society.
