Bannister,
Mary Jeanne Hoggard
#80101230 -- Rochester Suite (piano)
Bannister's last composition, this suite was designed
to be accessible to student musicians. Three of the five movements,
"Parade", "Fishing", and "Fireworks"
evoke happy, summertime events in Rochester, New York.
"Friend" and "Slow Dance" are sadder and more reflective.

#80101243 -- Two Piano Pieces (piano)
This volume contains two short, meditative works for
piano: Nocturne (1990) and The Palace of Hsi Wang Mu (1991).
Each would make an excellent recital offering, or music for a
religious service, when a resonant acoustic is available.
#80101244 -- The Ascended Healing Rays of the Cosmic Light (piano)
This is an extended concert work (55 minutes) for solo
piano. The work is set in a very long and freely-expressed rondo
form. Throughout the duration of the piece there are four of five
main ideas that are continually repeated and developed. There is much
use of fast, cascading passages and tone clusters, but these are
firmly contrasted with soft melody passages. The great white cosmic
light is expressed by continual tremolando passages which reach their
culmination at the very end of this long and expansive work.
